ESTABLISHED IN 1976 – Milhous Company is a designer and manufacturer of magnet systems for a product line of electromagnetic fluid filtration systems and high energy physics applications for industry, research and medical communities. From prototype to production, our design and analysis capabilities allow Milhous to assist our diverse customer base seeking a source for resistive or superconducting electrical coils or magnet systems.
THE BALLMATRIX™ – After being the primary manufacture of an Electromagnetic Filter (EMF) for Babcock & Wilcox and Areva for over three decades, Milhous Company purchased the technology from Areva in 2008. Shortly thereafter, the EMF was renamed BallMatrix Electromagnetic Fluid Filtration System. The mature technology of the BallMatrix has been used predominately in the large boiler industry filtering magnetite out of condensate. Although, its superior efficiency to remove magnetically susceptible particles from any fluid has recently attracted the attention of other industries such as automobile manufacturing, gas and oil refining and precious metals recovery.

Established in 1976, Milhous Company is home to the BallMatrix Electromagnetic Fluid Filtration System and provides services for design and manufacture of resistive and superconducting coils and electromagnets for high energy physics applications. Milhous Company established in Amherst Virginia USA

Main contractor for manufacturing electromagnetic fluid filters for Babcox & Wilcox.

1991
Started fabricating resistive accelerator coils and magnets for the new electron beam accelerator facility that became Jefferson Lab.

1995
Became coil and magnet vendor for Argonne National Lab, Oak Ridge National Lab and Loa Alamos National Lab.

1997
Produced Sextupole Magnets for Upgrade to Loma Linda University Medical Center Proton Therapy Center – Introduction to medical commercial use.

2004
Manufactured superconducting septum saddle coils for BWXT.

2005
Produced main solenoid coils for Sandia National Labs Coil Gun project.

2006
Designed and produced 100 HP and 6000 HP permanent magnet prototype motors for US Navy.

2008
Purchased Electromagnet Fluid Filter business from Areva (formally Babcox & Wilcox) and rebranded to BallMatrix® Electromagnetic Filtration System.

Develop methods and prototype for first ever Nb3Sn superconducting flutter coils for AS&T.
